IAS exam Qualification

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Exam qualification



1. Academic Qualification -
    -Any Graduation (B.A., B.Com., B. Sc., B.B.A., B.C.A., etc.) pass from any UGC recognized university.
    -Candidate who are appear for last year of degree and awaiting for result may apply.

2. Nationality -
    -Only Indian Nationals are eligible for IAS and IPS.

3. Age limit for IAS -
    -A candidate must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of 
      examination.

    Upper age limit is relaxed in special cases is as follows:
       - upto a of 5 years if the candidate is from  SC/ST.category.
       - upto a of 3 years if the candidate is from  OBC (Other Backward Classes) category.

       - upto a of 5 years if the candidate had been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during the period between
          January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989.

4. Number of Attempts
     -General candidates - four attempts
     -S.C. and S.T. candidates - No restriction
     -OBC candidates - seven attempts
